Here are colleagues attending the first Surgical Nursing Leadership Development and Networking Event.

Associate Director of Nursing, Rachel Rae, and the surgical matrons, have put together a programme of face-to-face events to run throughout the year discussing topics such as Nutrition and Hydration, Making Every Contact Count, Supporting students in practice, a relaunch of “Hello my name is…” and this session on The Disney way run by Karen Farrer. In 2019 Karen and Fran Howland heard how core customer service principles used by Disney can be transferred into a hospital setting, and it's gone from there.

The initial feedback from the session has been positive with comments being fed back from the event including: “Really good to hear from other areas and see how things work across the division”; “Informal, face to face, and a comfortable environment to speak up.”

Rachel added: "It was just so lovely to get the different teams together within surgery. There was a real buzz about the place!"
