Ward Manager, Emma Berry, took the top prize at last Friday's bake-off, organised by the Acute Floor at HRI to celebrate National Pride Month, which took place in June.

Sister and organiser, Kirsty Bryden, said: “The competition was important to us, as we really do believe in working together to ensure we bring our best ‘self’ to work. We include everyone and truly believe how important it is to have a positive working environment.”

Head Nurse for Urgent and Emergency Care, Tom Ladlow, who was one of the judges, said: "I had a great time, it was fantastic to see how everyone had come together. The comradery I witnessed within the team was second-to-none, and it was a pleasure to take part in the judging process."

Praising Emma's colourful creation, he said: "I could clearly tell that a great deal of time and effort had gone into all of the cakes, but Emma's just pipped the others to the post, pristine decoration, moist but not soggy and a fantastic fluffiness to the sponge"

Commenting on her win, Emma Berry said: "I would like to say what a brilliant effort the acute floor team has put in to celebrate Pride. A huge shout-out to Kirsty for organising another team competition.”

CHFT will celebrate its own Pride month in August - watch this space for all the details.
