Our ex-Navy Estates officer Dean Nugent, who once was on pirate patrol off the Horn of Africa, hoisted the flag over HRI to marked Armed Forces Day.

Dean who served on HMS Diamond, was joined by other CHFT colleagues who are also former servicemen or current reserves at the event, as well colleagues who turned out in support. We were also joined on Friday by RAF veterans from Huddersfield in their berets and medals for the occasion as their charity and ours are the Mayor’s chosen ones for this year.

Rob Birkett, now the Managing Director of The Health Informatics Service and also ex-services, welcomed guests and said: “I am proud to be part of CHFT and its Armed Forces Network. CHFT does a lot of things well, supporting our communities is something It does really well and that includes our Armed Forces community, colleagues and patients.

The values held by members of the armed forces community closely align to the NHS values, especially around service, commitment, leadership and respect.”
