Nursing Associate, Vicky Atkinson, has scooped the award for Level 5 Apprentice of the Year at the University of Huddersfield Apprenticeship Awards.
She attended the event alongside her colleagues, Matron for Workforce Development, Victoria Power, and Clinical Educator, Alana Hibberd. Her proud parents also watched her receive the award.
Her nominator, Senior Clinical Educator, Katherine Kelly, said: “She has shown continuous commitment and dedication to her personal learning needs, in addition to having an excellent professional outlook.
“Vicky has clearly chosen the right path in her career, she is a valued member of the team on CRH Respiratory Floor, and her attitude helps to lift the ward morale. She supports communication with our team, highlighting areas for progression and seeks support where needed.”
Vicky chose to do an apprenticeship to experience what it's really like to work as a nurse. Speaking on how it felt to win, she said: "I wasn't expecting to win anything like this, so it was a nice, unexpected surprise!"
Her long-term dream is to qualify as a Staff Nurse and then continue progressing in her nursing career. You're off to a brilliant start, Vicky!
