A new research study looking at preventing pneumonia after stroke, recruited its first patient within five days of opening, and was hailed a record by the central research team.

Matthew said: "We have three interventional studies open for our stroke patients – OPTIMAS, ENRICH-AF and MAPS-2.
"The MAPS-2 study recruited our first patient on 2 February (within one week of the green light) and is looking at using metoclopramide to prevent pneumonia after stroke."
Dr Ahmad said: "This is amazing, well done all team! We hope the research will improve the quality of care we provide to our patients and bring prestige and recognition for CHFT in the region."
