We've started a new initiative to share the wonderful compliments that patients and visitors have been giving our colleagues. 

Our first ever recipient of Colleagues Behind the Compliments was Consultant Neurologist, Dr Wail Ahmed. A patient got in touch with our Patient Advice Team to share how grateful they were for the way they were treated. One of Dr Ahmed's colleagues in outpatients read out the lovely feedback that the patient had written about him. It read:

"I had arrived ridiculously early for my appointment as I had never been to the hospital before and was feeling unsure. I expected to have a long wait given how early I was, but within a few minutes Dr Ahmed called me through to his consultation room.

"Dr Ahmed's greeting was warm, personable and he showed both myself and my husband into the room. Dr Ahmed was so welcoming, he put me at ease and was genuinely kind and considerate. He asked me all sorts of questions but always explained why he was asking and made sure to bring my husband into every conversation.

"I felt that Dr Ahmed genuinely cared about my wellbeing and he had such a warmth about him. He talked to me - not the computer - and gave me time to process the information he was sharing.

"How Dr Ahmed treats his patients should be something all staff should want to adhere to. I wish we could clone him and share him across the NHS!

"Thank you, Dr Ahmed."
