It's official! Our new multi-storey car park at CRH opened at 6am on Saturday, 24th October. First in were CHFT colleagues who commented on the ease of parking, and easy access to CRH to the main entrance.

The car park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week – including bank holidays – and is accessed from Dryclough Lane, off the A629. Patient and visitor parking is on levels 0 - 3b with colleague parking on levels 3a, and levels 4 and above. There is clear signage in place to help people know where to park.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is now in use at CRH so you must make sure you have applied for a permit on Nexus. All the information about permits can be found on the car parking page of the intranet.

More colleagues than ever have signed up for a permit. In line with our commitment to sustainable travel, the new car park has a large, sheltered cycle parking facility for more than 80 bikes and a free to use cycle maintenance area. The new multi-storey will also have a sheltered walkway off the A629, close to main bus stops to help people make the most of regular public transport to the hospital, which will open once the landscaping has been completed in a few weeks.

The car park has opened as soon as possible to help patients, their visitors and colleagues with parking, which has been challenging at CRH. Throughout autumn you will see continue to see landscaping around the car park which will promote biodiversity.

Thank you to all our colleagues who have been using alternative ways to get to CRH and keeping parking spaces free for our patients and their visitors.

Communications for our patients

Information for our patients, including frequently asked questions, is available on the CRH Finding Us page of the CHFT website.

We will be continuing to share information on social media and using our other communication channels throughout the week to make patients aware.

Changes to our other car parks at CRH

The Women’s and Children’s car park is now closed, and the A&E car park is now for drop-offs (including maternity), and emergency services use only.

Priority parking will still be available outside the Old Main Entrance, off Dudwell Lane, along with parking for patients coming to Endoscopy.

This allows our construction partner for the new hospital building, Laing O’Rourke, to set up on site, in preparation for building to begin.

The Park and Ride service will close after the timetables have finished on Friday, 30th October

Thank you to all colleagues who have used the Park and Ride service from Eureka and Cedar Court whilst we have been building the MSCP, you have made a significant difference to availability of parking on site.

After Friday, 30th October, the Park and Ride service will no longer operate. Colleagues who paused their parking permit were contacted by the Car Parking team in July and August about reactivating their permit. Colleagues can still apply for a permit on the car parking permits and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) intranet page.

The cross-site shuttle service will continue to run, though the team may review the timetable in line with demand once the MSCP opens.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

To help answer questions that colleagues may have, we have put together some FAQs which are on the intranet. These FAQs cover:

  • Permits, including priority parking permits, and how to apply
  • Alternative travel to CRH, including use of the bike shelter and maintenance area.
  • How to use the EV chargers.
