There is currently a national shortage of Point of Care test strips for Ketone testing on the Nova device. This is a result of a supplier shortage and recall.

There is a limited stock of unaffected test strips which are being distributed in small batches between hospitals throughout the UK.

CHFT has very limited stock so please follow this guidance:

• Conserve available strips for testing patients with the greatest clinical need
• Avoid unnecessary or routine ketone testing
• Use alternative methods such as urine ketone dipstick testing when appropriate or on clinically well patients
• Do not delay testing on unwell patients

The Point of Care Team will distribute stock as soon as this becomes available according to priority.
