Colleagues from the Sexual Health Team are hosting a fundraising bake sale today at Broad Street Plaza to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer.

The team has come together to support a cause that has touched many lives, both personally and professionally, and are encouraging colleagues and visitors to stop by, enjoy a sweet treat and help raise funds for charity Breast Cancer Now.

Explaining why the team felt so strongly about supporting the fundraiser, Sexual Health Nurse Manager, Jill Tattersley, said: "This cause is particularly close to our hearts, as a colleague has recently been diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer. We have also been touched by the experience of a nurse whose close friend has recently undergone a mastectomy following a breast cancer diagnosis.

"Over the last two weeks alone, I have seen four patients who had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, which shows just how many people are affected by this disease.

"These experiences have reminded us that breast cancer can affect people of all ages and of the importance of raising awareness, supporting those affected, and helping to fund this important cause."

The team hope the event will not only raise valuable funds but also spark conversations about breast cancer awareness, early diagnosis and the support available to those impacted by the disease.
