Colleagues in Trauma and Orthopaedics (T&O) have been working together using their NHS Staff Survey results to help strengthen engagement within the directorate.

General Manager, Jane Peacock, said: “We have worked hard with our colleagues building on our action plans, and it’s pleasing to see everyone’s work is paying off as our engagement has increased over the past 18 months or so.

“One of the actions we put in place was to introduce regular listening events, creating safe spaces where colleagues could share ideas, raise challenges, and importantly, get feedback along the way.

“We’ve also held several development sessions focused on communication, mutual respect, and team building. These activities helped improve working relationships, creating a stronger sense of teamwork across the service.

“Senior leaders have become more visible in clinical areas and through other activities, spending time with colleagues, listening to their experiences first hand.

“One of the biggest lessons along the way was the importance of closing the feedback loop. As colleagues began to see action being taken in response to their comments, trust and confidence grew, leading to greater participation in last year’s survey too.

“I’d like as many T&O colleagues to take part again this year – hearing their voices is so important as we’ve seen through the actions we’ve already put in place.”

Opt-in to win!

  • The survey takes roughly 10 minutes to complete and is 100% anonymous.
  • Everyone who completes it will be asked if they want to opt in to the weekly draw to win an extra day of annual leave, or a shopping voucher. Our first winner was Frailty Coordinator, Sammie Owen (pictured below)
  • Names go into a weekly raffle which is managed directly by our survey provider IQVIA. If your name isn't selected, you'll remain in the draws for the following weeks, so the earlier you complete your survey the more chances you have to win. The annual leave prizes will be won by lucky colleagues in the first four weeks of the survey period.
  • Look for your reminder email which will come today (Monday, 12th October).
  • IQVIA has a helpline open from 09:00 to 17:00 daily. Colleagues can either email helpline-qh@iqvia.com or call their freephone number on 0800 783 1775 - you can ask them any questions you have about how the staff survey is managed.
