Today, Monday, 12th October, will see one of the next phases of our new hospital building starting, as our contractor, Laing O’Rourke, start work to widen the Women’s and Children’s entrance, and the former Learning Centre car park exit.
This work will create the ambulance entrance for the new Emergency Department, and make sure that large vehicles to the construction site will be able to enter promptly and safely during the construction phase, minimising the time they spend on Godfrey Road.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place outside Godfrey Road entrances to CRH. These will be in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the works. There will also be additional colleagues on the entrances to the Women and Children's car park to make sure that parking is kept for patients and their visitors only.
There will also be a temporary closure on Godfrey Road from Monday, 27th October for two weeks. This will be a small section outside the Women’s and Children’s entrance. During this time traffic will be diverted to Skircoat Green Road and we have agreed robust plans with Calderdale Council and our emergency services including Yorkshire Ambulance Service to maintain safe access to the hospital. Clear signage will be in place.
We will keep you updated on the progress of this work which is expected to take around six weeks to complete and is due to finish in late November.
