Congratulations to Staff Nurse, Megan Longthorne, who is our latest Star Award winner. Megan was nominated by Sister, Emmie Haxby, for her commitment to patient care and professionalism whilst working in HRI A&E. Her nomination reads:

"Megan consistently goes above and beyond for both her patients and her colleagues. I recently witnessed her caring for a critically unwell patient in resuscitation, where she demonstrated exceptional competence, professionalism, and composure. Working alongside the anaesthetic team, Megan did everything possible to help save the patient's life. Throughout the situation, she remained calm, focused, and reassuring, never becoming flustered despite the intensity of the circumstances. Her care was delivered with remarkable speed, efficiency, and skill.

"She is an absolute credit to the Emergency Department at HRI and is highly respected by her colleagues. She is committed to improving patient care and has a particular passion for enhancing the experience of patients requiring palliative and end-of-life care. She is currently developing a palliative care trolley within the Emergency Department, ensuring that patients in the final stages of life receive the highest standard of compassionate, dignified, and person-centred care.

"Megan's clinical excellence, professionalism, and dedication to improving the care we provide make her an incredibly deserving recipient of this award."
