Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) is looking for volunteers to help deliver cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training in secondary schools on Restart a Heart Day.

Across the region 169 secondary schools are taking part, giving more than 35,000 students the chance to learn this life-saving skill in a single day. Most sessions will be held on Friday 16 October 2026.

Each school will have a volunteer team led by a designated lead volunteer, who will oversee the event at that location. The lead will deliver the session using a tutorial video, while other volunteers support the practical training. No clinical background is needed - just a basic understanding of CPR.

More than 700 off-duty YAS staff, Community First Responders and volunteers from partner organisations have already signed up, but more help is still needed in some areas.
