The leading cause of preventable death in hospital is Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) with up to 60% of all VTEs occurring during or after hospital stays. We have recently seen a drop in VTE risk assessments.

Help 'stop the clot':

• Complete VTE risk assessments for all admissions aged 16 years and older.
• Prescribe VTE prophylaxis if appropriate
• Give patients information (which can be found on our VTE intranet page) on reducing VTE

Following these steps can save lives.
