Equans and their contractors will be carrying out essential electrical maintenance work on the electrical switch gear at Calderdale Royal Hospital site. The work will take place between Tuesday and Thursday in the week of 21st September, and Monday to Thursday in the week of 28th September.

The electrical power supply at CRH is split into:

  • Essential Services indicated by red sockets
  • Non-essential Services indicated by white sockets

Work will start each week day, as below, at approximately 5.30am each morning.

  • Essential services will experience a momentary interruption of power for approximately 15 seconds (just like on the routine generator testing).
  • Non-essential services will experience an interruption of power for approximately 15 minutes.

Following this period, essential services will experience a second momentary interruption of power of approximately 15 seconds and then both essential and non-essential services will resume.

Switching off computers, support and Equans visits

  • Please switch off your computer correctly when leaving work prior to the electrical shutdown. This means computers must be switched off at the socket; if this does not happen there is a risk that data on display will be lost.
  • Prior to this work Equans will visit critical areas such as A & E, ICU, Diagnostic Imaging, Theatres and Pathology to ensure colleagues are aware of the planned work and to ensure it is safe and appropriate to carry out the work.
  • All lifts will be appropriately signed and checked during the power interruptions.
  • In the areas highlighted by bold text, Non-Essential services will be unavailable from 5:30am: for up to 2 hours, then following this time Essential services will experience a momentary interruption of 15 seconds before power will resume to both services.
  • Please direct all queries on the day to the Help Desk on 4600.

Please share this with affected areas.

Any queries around this prior to the day of work should be directed to Service Performance Team on Extension 2439 or 2530 or Email: val.rigg@cht.nhs.uk or directly to EQUANS on Extension 4633

Details of the areas affected by this work are show below.  Please check the lists carefully to see how your areas will be affected.

In the areas highlighted by bold text, non-essential services will be unavailable from 5:30am: for up to two hours. Following this, essential services will experience a momentary interruption of 15 seconds before power will resume to both services.
