Families receiving a new diabetes diagnosis for their child are being supported with valuable educational resources thanks to charitable funding provided to the Children's Diabetes Team at the Rainbow Hub in Elland.

The team recently purchased Carbs & Cals Counting and World Foods books. The books provide practical guidance on the calorie and carbohydrate content of a wide range of foods, helping families calculate insulin requirements and manage their child's condition more confidently.

For many families, a diabetes diagnosis can be overwhelming as they adapt to new routines and learn how to manage insulin therapy. These resources offer a valuable source of information at a time when support is needed most.

Providing them free of charge helps remove anu additional financial burden and ensures every family has access to the information they need from the very start of their diabetes journey.

The project is another example of how donations and fundraising are helping to enhance patient and family experiences across CHFT, providing practical support that goes beyond routine healthcare.

Colleagues are reminded that a new process for applying for charitable funds also comes into effect from today, and colleagues planning to apply for charitable funding are encouraged to visit the new colleague hub and familiarise themselves with the updated process and guidance.

A huge thank you to everyone who donates and raises funds for CHFT Charity. Your support continues to make a meaningful difference to patients and families throughout our hospitals and community services.
