We’re getting Déjà vu, or should we say 'flu', as it’s almost time to start our annual winter vaccination campaign for colleagues.

We’re once again seeking peer immuniser volunteers, and Operating Department Practitioner, Janet Morrison, has already signed up to protect her colleagues across theatres.

Janet said: “I’m raring to go and have done all my training and certification. I do it every year because I truly believe all our healthcare colleagues should have their flu jab to protect not only themselves, but their colleagues and patients too.

“I’m setting myself a goal to beat my figure last year of 295, so watch out for me in your area!”

The campaign is due to begin on Thursday, 1st October and broadly speaking, most registered clinical practitioners can become a peer immuniser e.g. Registered Nurses, Midwives, Physios, ODPs, Nursing Associates and Pharmacists.

There will be some training to complete ahead of the campaign, so if you want to know more or would like to express your interest, and your BLS training is up to date, please email: flu@cht.nhs.uk by Monday, 28th September.

If you’ve been a peer immuniser before we'd love to have you back on board. Your training will need to be refreshed too, so please email the address above if you'd be happy to support the campaign this year.

If you are over 65, or also eligible for a Covid vaccine your GP practice will be in touch.
