Two CHFT colleagues made waves on the international stage this month after competing at the European Aquatics Masters Swimming Championships in Slovakia.

Dietitian, Georgina Wright, represented Great Britain at the championships, held between 18 and 24 August 2026, while Consultant in General Medicine, Dr Beatrix Langara, represented Hungary.

Competing against some of Europe's top masters swimmers, both colleagues delivered impressive performances in their respective events.

Georgina enjoyed a highly successful championship, securing:

• Silver medal in the 100m Freestyle
• Bronze medal in the 50m Freestyle
• Fourth place in the 50m Breaststroke

Meanwhile, Beatrix achieved a series of strong finishes, including:

• Fifth place in the 4x50m Individual Medley Relay
• Ninth place in the 50m Breaststroke
• Tenth place in the 100m Breaststroke
• Eleventh place in the 200m Breaststroke

The championships brought together thousands of competitors from across Europe, showcasing elite performances and a shared passion for swimming at masters level.

Reflecting on their achievements, Georgina said: "It was a great experience to be able to compete abroad and to meet so many amazing swimmers from across Europe. To get on the podium twice was an additional bonus."

Beatrix added: "It was a great atmosphere, and I had some fantastic support from my family and my team. It was a very competitive environment and the race was at an extremely high standard. I'm always open to the next challenge!"
