A huge well done to Southside Dining Supervisor, Sharon Rogers, on her nomination in the Excellence in Support Services category at this year's CHuFT awards.

As part of CHuFT on the Road, which recognises every single colleague nominated, Sharon received a certificate and copy of her nomination from Retail Manager, Lorraine Racchi. Her nomination reads:

"Sharon is the heart and soul of our hospital dining room. Day in and day out, she ensures that the space is clean, safe, and welcoming for patients, visitors, and staff alike. She meticulously wipes down tables and high-touch surfaces, restocks supplies, and addresses spills or hazards immediately, creating a smooth, organised environment that feels both professional and inviting.

"Her friendly demeanour and attentiveness set the tone for the dining room, making it a space where everyone feels valued and cared for. This year has been particularly challenging for her after losing her colleague and close friend Bev, she continued to show remarkable resilience and professionalism. As she explained, 'I’m carrying on because that’s what Bev would want.'

"Despite her grief, she maintained her high standards, demonstrating to the team the power of dedication, pride, and perseverance even in the face of personal loss. Her ability to stay composed and continue delivering excellence has been inspiring to all who work alongside her. Beyond her essential daily responsibilities, she has had an extraordinary impact through mentoring students from Project SEARCH, who come to us on work placements. The success of her coaching is tangible - several students she has guided have transitioned into paid positions, a testament to her skill, patience, and commitment to helping others achieve their potential."

Sharon attended the CHuFT Awards back in July 2026 and said: "I had an amazing time at the award night from start to finish. It was such a pleasure to have been nominated for a job I love doing."
