Our Library Team are currently working hard building a new collection in the library which aims to support colleague wellbeing - and they're keen to hear what resources you'd like to see in their collection before the launch in September.
The Library, based in the Learning Centre at Calderdale Royal Hospital, is open to all Trust colleagues, no matter their roles. The welcoming, inclusive environment offers a safe space to escape from the busy hospital environment and the Library Team are always on hand to provide cups of tea and a listening ear.
Senior Library Technician, Hannah Desmond said: “Whilst our role has traditionally been in providing professional support, we believe we have an important part to play in improving colleague morale. The Wellbeing Collection feels like a natural next step and is a welcome addition to our space.”
Library Manager, Madeline Hannah, added: “Wellbeing has always been part of our ethos. Our walls are yellow because it's the colour of happiness and I want all of our colleagues to feel like they’re welcome here."
The Wellbeing Collection will include a range of resources on a variety of topics including Mental Health, Ageing Well, Health and Fitness, Neurodiversity, Personal Finance and Empowerment. The collection will span beyond physical books as the library has recently invested in a subscription to Libby, an app that will give colleagues access to a variety of e-books and audiobooks from the comfort of their own homes. This means that the Library is more accessible than ever to colleagues at HRI or in the community.
The team are currently asking colleagues for their input into building their collection, so do share your thoughts by Sunday, 16th August to help them help you.
