On 22 August 2026, colleagues are invited to support a special charity event being held in memory of Lewis Haydn Wainwright, the son of CHS Pharmacy Assistant, Abigail Mann.
Two-year-old Lewis passed away suddenly in his sleep on 19 October 2023. Following extensive investigations, no cause of death could be identified, and his death was classified as Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC).
To honour Lewis's memory and help other families affected by SUDC, Abigail and her family organise an annual fundraising event to raise awareness and vital funds for SUDC UK, a charity dedicated to supporting families.
The charity works closely with researchers, healthcare professionals and affected families to improve understanding of SUDC and help make these deaths predictable and preventable.
Around 40 children are affected each year in the UK, highlighting the importance of continued research, awareness and family support.
This year's fundraising event, Bonkers Drag Bingo Night, will take place from 5pm on Saturday 22 August 2026 at the Liberal Club, Meltham, Huddersfield. The evening will feature bingo, entertainment and an auction, with all proceeds donated to SUDC UK.
By sharing Lewis's story, Abigail hopes to help others learn about a condition that many people may never have heard of. Every conversation, donation and attendee helps raise awareness of SUDC while supporting research and services for families facing unimaginable loss.
Whether you are able to attend the event, make a donation, or simply share Lewis' story with others, your support can make a real difference.
