As CHFT is a member of the West Yorkshire Travel Plan Network, our colleagues are entitled to a 12% discount on a Corporate Annual MCard (Metrocard), which allows you to travel on all buses and trains throughout West Yorkshire.

But the best bit is that CHFT pays the full cost upfront and deducts it through your monthly salary over 12 months.

The Annual MCard means you can just tap your card when you get on and off the bus or train across West Yorkshire. 

In the past year, 83 colleagues have taken advantage of the card, including CRH Day Procedure Unit's Admin Assistant, Carol Walsh, pictured.

Carol said: "I don't drive so it's my main way of travelling. If I paid the full cost it would be £10 a day just for First Buses only. The MCard lets me use all the buses across West Yorkshire, which is handy for me as I go to Ripponden every Monday on a pink Pennine Bus. Paying for that trip alone is £2.50, compared to just over £2 a day using the MCard for all buses in the region.

"And because it's paid for up front I don't have to think about finding the money each week or month. For me it's a no-brainer." 

Costs and how to apply

The cost is based on whether you want to use the card for buses only, or to include trains. If you choose bus only, you will pay £68.20 per month from your salary, as opposed to £77.50 without the card. This means bus travel around West Yorkshire would cost £2.24 per day over the year.

Once you have signed up, the cost remains the same for the next 12 months but may increase at renewal. If you want to cancel your card mid-way through the year, there will be an admin fee and the discount will be lost as part of the refund process (see FAQs below).
