A huge shout-out to a group of 10 colleagues from our CT Team, who recently hiked up Scafell Pike for a charity who are supporting a colleague and her partner.
They were raising money for Bradford’s Neonatal Home from Home appeal, after one of their colleagues, CT/MRI assistant Laura McCreadie, had twins twins Mabel and Marley at 24 weeks. The team at Bradford have provided care for her and her partner, A&E Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Graham Murphy, ever since.
CT Team Lead, Vicky Riley, said: "The weather was very pleasant to begin with, and we started the walk in vest tops. About an hour into the hike, the long-sleeved tops came out, and after around an hour and a half, everyone was reaching for coats and hats.
"The conditions at the summit were atrocious, with 50mph winds, heavy sideways rain, and sleet. Visibility was extremely poor and we could only see around five metres ahead. Everyone was completely soaked, and the rain made the descent particularly treacherous, with several people slipping and falling.
"In fact, we saw the mountain rescue teams in action, along with a rescue helicopter, which highlighted just how challenging the conditions had become."
Laura said: “We are so grateful to our colleagues from the CT department at CHFT for doing this for the Home from Home appeal for Bradford Neonatal unit.
“The money raised will go towards keeping families close to their babies at the most needed time- this has been invaluable for us to be able to be close to our twins who were born early.”
So far the team have raised more than £2,000, smashing their £500 target. What a brilliant team effort to support such a great cause.
Well done to Jen Greening, Vicky Riley, Sarah Tattersley, Amy Steward, Debra Punshon, Moz Arafat, Deepak, Mohsin, Mal Morton and Vicky Noland.
