Over the weekend Respiratory Matron, Rachel Shine, attended the memorial service of former patient Frankie, who sadly died following a long-term health condition that had seen her admitted to our respiratory services over the past three years.

Rachel, pictured left, said: "I've known the family since Frankie's first admission and would always get a message from them each time she was admitted. They asked me to attend on behalf of the Respiratory Team following the care they gave Frankie and her loved ones. They specifically asked us to wear colourful clothes.

"At the service the family spoke of the kindness, compassion and dignity shown by our teams, expressing their gratitude. They even insisted I take some homemade parkin back to the ward teams as a thank you for their compassion and care.

"I am incredibly proud of our respiratory teams and the work they do for all our patients."
