Our Project SEARCH Team will soon be welcoming their next group of interns, and they're keen to make sure wards and departments right across CHFT can get involved.
Sharon Holt is the Administrator for the Pre-Assessment Unit and Elective Surgery Unit, and who has been working alongside former intern, Daniyal Khan, for almost two years.
Sharon said: "Daniyal is responsible for keeping up the stock levels of our surgery leaflets that nurses give to our patients. He began working with us back in the Pre-Assessment Department back in September 2024 and still continues to volunteer with us to this day.
"We have all seen Daniyal's confidence grow since he has been with the team and he thoroughly enjoys interacting with colleagues and patients. He will hopefully be starting full-time employment soon and is an extremely valued member of the team.
"If you've ever considered supporting an intern I can personally say it's a really rewarding experience. You're helping someone to develop their confidence and gain valuable workplace skills. Seeing someone's confidence grow is incredibly satisfying. And Job Coaches Tracey Thompson and Candice Paniczew from the Project SEARCH team were very supportive throughout the whole process."
Project SEARCH is a year-long supported internship at CHFT, helping young adults aged 18-25 with learning disabilities and autism spectrum conditions gain valuable work experience.
Please mail projectsearch@calderdale.ac.uk if your ward or department could support our next set of interns and help make a real difference.
