Southgate Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) gives people access to planned diagnostic tests out of hospital, giving care closer to home in our communities. Blood tests are one of the services offered at the facility.

It is quick and easy to attend appointments, with parking on site or a 15-minute walk from the train or bus station.

Patient, Arlene Schofield, recently visited Southgate CDC for a blood test and was blown away by the service, she said: "I have never been in such a wonderful, calming building. From reception to my appointment, all the staff and the entire experience was wonderful. The environment instantly puts you at ease.

"Even if you're worried about your appointment, you come into the building and you just have a feeling of absolute calm thanks to the way it has been designed and decorated - it's just so clean and fresh.

"It's also incredibly convenient. It literally takes minutes and it's perfect that it is so close to the town centre - it means you can do a bit of shopping and then go get your blood test.

"I can't believe how lucky we are to have a service like this. It is the most wonderful thing to happen to Huddersfield."

Outpatient diagnostic tests are also still available at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital. Appointments at the CDC are by appointment only through a referral from a GP practice or other hospital service.
