Earlier this month our Clinical Director of Pharmacy, Lis Street, took on the challenge of a lifetime by trekking 52km over five days on the Inca Trail to raise money for Forget Me Not Children's Hospice.

A proud Lis has shared some amazing photos and tails from her journey along the way.

“I did it!

“I had a one-day acclimatisation trek, then took four days to trek the Inca Trail in the Andes Mountains.

“It was 5am starts and 12-14 hours trekking per day (and no showers along the way). I was pretty exhausted (and smelly) by the time I made it to Machu Pichu.

“High altitude meant I walked at a snail’s pace and big steps up and down the mountains challenged not only my knees but my personal resilience.

“There were a few tears along the way, but it was an incredible experience and I’m so proud of myself. This was a once in a lifetime experience and the sight of Machu Pichu at the end of the trek was breathtaking and very emotional.

“I just want to give a massive thanks to the pharmacy team for their support and organising a cake bake which raised £146 and all my other colleagues who sponsored me. With the cake bake contribution plus my Just Giving page I have raised £2,000 for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.”

Top effort Lis!
