A group of CHFT midwives and support workers are preparing to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge this Thursday to raise funds for our Charity's Maternity Bereavement Appeal.
The team includes Alice Baxter, Natalie Gledhill, Lily Fielding, Hannah Wood, Sian Wells, Rachael Cafferky, Susannah Kendall, Nicky Gibbon, Ann Frost and her sister Sally, Dionne Moore, Ann Taylor, Michelle Jones and Sophie Kibble.
They are fundraising through a JustGiving page and are encouraging colleagues and the wider community to get behind them.
The Maternity Bereavement Appeal supports CHFT Charity’s vision to ensure that everyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death receives the care and support they need in the right environment.
Funds raised will help to:
- create a comfortable, self contained suite for families experiencing late pregnancy loss, birth or neonatal death
- provide a private, welcoming space with natural daylight, away from busy clinical areas
- develop a newly furnished counselling room within the Early Pregnancy Unit to support families experiencing early miscarriage
Consultant Midwife, Michelle Jones, said: “We are incredibly proud as a team to support the Maternity Bereavement Appeal by taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. This appeal means so much to all of us. The funds raised will help us enhance our bereavement facilities and make such a difference to families’ experiences in hospital at such a difficult time. Any donation, big or small, will make such a difference.”
The team describe the challenge as both a personal and professional commitment, and although they are amateur walkers, they are determined to make a difference for families across CHFT.
Colleagues are encouraged to support the team by donating via their JustGiving page and helping to improve care and environments for families when they need it most.
