Corporate Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Deb Lau, recently ran a regional Advanced Practice forum at the University of Huddersfield. The forum was held in collaboration with the University of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire ICB and Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

The aim of the event was to provide education using keynote speakers and share regional and national updates to advanced practitioners (AP) from around the West Yorkshire region.

Our Clinical Psychologist, Jess Macintyre-Holt, provided a session on emotional regulation and work in balance and introduced the concepts of resilience based clinical supervision. The aim of which is to strengthen wellbeing for individual practitioners and discuss how this can help sustain long‑term practice in high‑pressure environments.

Lead Advanced Practitioner at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Rebecca Sherrat, gave a national and regional update helping to create consistency in knowledge, awareness of current standards and discuss educational pathways available nationally through the Centre for Advancing Practice.

There was also a session from the Advanced Practice team at the University who discussed their recent trip to Ghana with trainee APs from around the region including our own Trainee Advanced Practitioner, Chloe Gough, and how the resource scarce environment strengthened their clinical skills.
