Keeping our patients safe is everyone’s responsibility. One important way we do this across CHFT and the NHS is through the National Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. The DBS Update Service helps us keep those checks current, efficient, and effective.
It is important colleagues who require a DBS check:
- Join the DBS Update Service when they receive their DBS certificate
- Keep their subscription active (an annual fee applies)
- Share their certificate and consent for status checks when required
Colleagues should be aware that if they change name or their credit/debit card expiries, the DBS Update Service will de-register you. This is a national DBS system process, not controlled by CHFT. The DBS Update Service will email you to notify you that you are about to be de-registered and the steps you need to take. Colleagues should ensure they regularly access the email address to register with the DBS Update Service.
