We are wishing Pharmacist, Anita Hill, a very happy retirement as she retires on Thursday. Anita qualified as a pharmacist from Aston University and started her first job at CHFT in 1989 where she has been ever since.

She originally became a pharmacist to work in pharmacy production and play with autoclaves, but now leads on medical safety after taking on the role of Medication Safety Officer in 2014.

Her colleagues in pharmacy held a fuddle for her last week, with colleagues past and present coming to say their goodbyes and share a slice of cake. A presentation was also shared during the fuddle, with CRH colleagues joining via MS Teams where a special surprised was planned, with Anita's son also joining the online celebration.

Clinical Director of Pharmacy, Lis Street, said: "Anita is one of the most inspirational and awesome pharmacists I have ever worked with. Her pharmaceutical knowledge is second to none. She has led and developed our Medication Safety team, transformed our Medication Safety and Compliance Forum and her advice and steer as member of the Pharmacy leadership team has been invaluable.

"During Covid, her knowledge and expertise in medical gases (oxygen) ensured we had sufficient oxygen supply to meet our patients' needs. Her knowledge, proactive pharmaceutical interventions and advice has helped ensure our patients are prescribed the medication they need. The teaching and mentoring she has delivered to other pharmacy colleagues and health care professionals has greatly contributed to delivering our patient safety agenda.

"I won’t miss her mackerel salads during board meetings, but I will miss her kindness, care and compassion. I can honestly say it’s been a joy and pleasure working with Anita. We will miss her and wish her a long and happy retirement. I would like to thank her for keeping me, our pharmacy team and our patients safe."

All the best Anita and thank you for your many years with us.
