Thanks to Discharge Lounge Sister, Kath Stubbington, patients in the Discharge Lounge all have a safer way to get the attention of colleagues when they need it.
Kath recognised that the Discharge Lounge was a much larger space, and had minimal call bells, which was a safety concern for patients who may fall whilst trying to get the attention of a nurse.
To help tackle the problem, Kath has brought in bells for every chair, which patients can ring to get the attention of colleagues working in the Discharge Lounge.
Kath said: "We are trying to be more proactive with falls hence the bells and the Call Don't Fall signs in the area. Patients do have fun with the bells, with some saying 'ring for a cuppa', so it's not only a safety tool, but something that also lightens the mood and gives patients something to talk about in the department."
