Earlier today, Monday, 18th May, the Community Division celebrated one year since they moved to their new base in Bowling Mill at Dean Clough in Halifax.
Colleagues from across Community were joined by our Executive Board, some of our patient Experts by Experience, and others involved in the project, for The Great Community Bake Off. As part of the Bake Off, the team also collected donations for our CHFT Charity for every bake.
Judging the bakes were Deputy Chief Executive, Jonny Hammond, and Medical Director, Neeraj Bhasin. Congratulations to runner up, Nicola Glasby, with her ginger cake, and to the winner, Amy Dennis, with her lemon drizzle. Amy said: "I am shocked but chuffed. Thanks to my mum as it's her recipe!"
Director of Operations for Community Division, Jenny Clark, opened up the celebration. Jenny said: "Since we moved in, we have seen over 15,500 patients here at Dean Clough right in the heart of Halifax. We get such wonderful feedback from our patients about how the whole space is light, spacious and airy, welcoming and friendly, and doesn't feel like a hospital environment at all.
"One of the things I am most proud of is how much our teams love having a shared working space, it's really made a difference to how we work. Colleagues have said how great it is having so many teams here, and how it really helps with cross team working as well as the ambience and positive environment we have created.
"Thank you to everyone who has been involved in making our move to Bowling Mill such a success."
Volunteer Expert by Experience, Graham Hale, who was involved in the project, said: "I was first shown round when it was just a shell, so it is great to see so many of the nursing teams up here on the fourth floor.
"The clinic downstairs is awesome and the parking too is really good. I have heard so much good feedback, and if the patients are happy then it's a win.
"Considering it is an old building, I have to say the estates team have done a cracking job."
