Ahead of next week's Dementia Action Week (18th - 22nd May), the Dementia Bus is returning to HRI this week for anyone who would like to experience what life can be like for people living with dementia. It will be in HRI's main entrance car park on Thursday, 14th May between 10:00 and 15:30. The experience is open for anyone and takes around 20 minutes.

Prevention of Delirium Co-ordinator, Rachel Bennett, said: "The Dementia Bus is a proven method of giving a person with a healthy brain an experience of what dementia might be like. It allows colleagues to enter the world of someone living with dementia to understand what simple changes need to be made to their practice and environment to really improve lives of people with dementia."

Tier 2 training sessions for dementia and delirium are also available next week, taking place on Tuesday 19th and Friday 21st May. A full list of the sessions available throughout the year has been attached at the bottom of the article. To book, please search ‘372 Dementia’ on ESR and select the date you would like to book. If you encounter any issues, please contact enhancedcare@cht.nhs.uk

Our dementia strategy has also launched and can be found in our policies and documents library on the intranet. The strategy is there to prepare and equips our colleagues to provide outstanding, high-quality care for people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers. Our ambition is to ensure that every individual receives compassionate, person-centred care that supports them to live well with dementia.
