Our sustainability survey closes tomorrow, Wednesday 6th May at 4pm.

The survey is a useful resource in helping our Trust reach its net zero carbon emission goal by 2040. The ideas and feedback you provide in the survey actively helps influence change in our hospitals.

The results from the 2024 survey helped make the following changes

  • A third of colleagues said that lack of awareness was the main obstacle in preventing the NHS from becoming more sustainable, so we developed a Green Champions training package to increase staff knowledge about the Green Plan, Net Zero and waste management. You can book a spot on the next training session.
  • The most popular sustainability initiative colleagues said they would like to see implemented were waste reduction and recycling programmes, so we expanded the furniture and equipment reuse scheme and introduced a reuse scheme for walking aids, helping to promote circular economy and prevent valuable resources going to waste.
  • 98% of colleagues said that sustainability is important - so the Green Plan was re-written to ensure the actions and priorities for the next three years were relevant, achievable, and developed in line with key stakeholders across the Trust.
