More than half our colleagues shared their views in the last NHS Staff Survey about working at CHFT, and over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some of the key activities being planned Trust-wide to support colleagues based on what they told us.

First up, and just in time for Appraisal Season, is the work the Organisational Development Team have done to improve the paperwork and guidance for colleagues, based on colleague feedback.

Paperwork changes

  • Development Conversation – this section has been adjusted to support conversations to look at both short and long-term goals
  • Objectives – the SMART objectives have been listed for clarity
  • Upward Feedback - prompts have been added to help support the conversation

Appraiser guidance

  • New Appraisal Checklist - step-by-step actions to undertake and complete an appraisal
  • Prompts added to help guide the appraisee on tasks and behaviours around One Culture of Care

Head of Organisational Development, James Teal, said: “The survey results showed encouraging progress across several areas of the NHS People Promise. It's important that we listen and act on colleague feedback as it demonstrates our commitment to continued improvement. If we can support our colleagues to be happy and healthy at work with One Culture of Care, they’re more likely to feel confident in recommending CHFT as a great place to work, as well as a place to receive great care.”
