Today is International Day of the Midwife so we want to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of our midwifery colleagues. Their dedication, compassion and expertise play a vital role in supporting women, babies and families at some of their most important moments of their lives.
Midwife, Joanne Littlewood (pictured bottom right), recently shared her journey into the profession, saying: "I came into Midwifery quite late on in my career, starting training at the age of 40. Having children of my own, I was in awe of what the team did for me and my family and I wanted to step into their shoes.
“16 years on and I’m still as passionate and absolutely love my job. I love being there for our women and being their advocate.”
Joanne's story reflects the commitment and passion we see across our midwifery teams every day. Thank you to all our midwives for the essential care you provide and for the difference you all make to families in our communities.
