In a joint venture with Kirklees Council, and as part of their Suicide Memorial and Bereavement Quilt Roadshow, we’re hosting free Suicide Awareness and Prevention sessions right here at CHFT alongside other events across two days.

Mental Health Consultant, Ian Noonan said: “We’re fortunate to have been able to secure national suicide prevention charity Papyrus to come along as part of the wider roadshow on Thursday, 29th and Friday, 30th June to run the free sessions. The charity is for suicide prevention in young people, but the training is for all ages.

“There will be two sessions per day. Spaces are limited so please read more and book through the links below.”

A memorial quilt - made by people bereaved by suicide, is being used as part of the roadshow to help generate discussion about suicide. It will be on display in our HRI Lecture theatre during the two days.

There are other events happening throughout the two days – please see the attached flyer below for full details. And we'll promote again nearer the time.

Sessions, dates and how to book

Suicide Prevention Overview Tutorial (SPOT)

A 90-minute session which is open to all. We know that we have colleagues who may not provide clinical care, but who deal with patients on the phone, when portering or using patient transport. This brief session will amongst other things, recognise the ‘signs’ that may indicate someone is having thoughts of suicide.

Suicide Prevention – Explore, Ask, Keep-safe. An introduction to suicide prevention skills (SPEAK)

A three-and-a-half-hour session tailored toward our clinical professionals, chaplains and volunteers who have more interaction with patients.
