The Immersive Suite at CRH has been used to develop the design of our new hospital building at CRH. Ours is the first healthcare project in the country to use it to make sure our design meets the needs of our colleagues and patients.
We're now getting the CRH site ready for construction which will start later this year, and our Foundations for our Future team have been inviting colleagues into the suite where you can see what the new hospital building will look like. It shows in real scale the space available and allows people to stand in the virtual spaces to see how they can be used, including patient rooms, storage and colleague working areas.
Colleagues from a range of divisions attended the session which also describes the different stages of the build, ward layouts and how feedback from colleagues has been used.
Therapy Services Manager, Sally Grose, and Director of Operations, Community, Jenny Clark, said: "This session really bought it to life. The immersive suite makes it real, especially being able to see it in scale."
ED Consultant and Clinical Lead, Dr Mark Davies, has led many of the sessions in the suite. Mark said: "It has been fantastic to use the immersive suite to make sure that the new hospital building meets the needs of our colleagues and patients. We have done things such as bring real equipment, including beds, into the suite, to make sure we have suitable space. We have been able to assure colleagues that we are maximising the use of ward space available for storage, and larger workspaces for multi-disciplinary working."
Colleagues from across all our sites and services are welcome to come to the Immersive Suite, based in the Old Learning Centre at CRH. If you would like to book a session, which lasts an hour, please get in touch with Helen Marshall - helen.marshall@cht.nhs.uk
