Congratulations to three of our colleagues have passed their Multiverse course with Distinctions.

Head of Planned Access, Kim Scholes, Community Therapy Service Lead, Dave Nutall, and Clinical Manager for Orthoptics and Optometry, Emma Griffiths, all participated in the Data for Insights and Business Decisions course and graduated together a few months ago. Kim has shared her experience and how the course is already benefiting her role.

"I decided to enrol for my self-development and to learn more about data and how we can use it to inform decision making. We have so much data in our organisation, so it was good to upskill myself to gain a better insight into how it can be utilised.

"I really enjoyed the course. It was definitely challenging because it's an apprenticeship alongside a full-time job, but I learned a lot from it. Every month you did a project, which gave the course a nice structure and flow, everyone I encountered at Multiverse was really supportive and keen to help you. I really felt that you get what you put into it - there were so many extra sessions or coaching you could do if you wanted to go the extra mile.

"One of the highlights was meeting new people and building relationships with the two colleagues who had also enrolled on the course. Me, Dave and Emma wouldn't work together ordinarily, so it was lovely to build that support network with them as we went through the course together. We were all there for each other encouraging and supporting the whole way - I'm not sure I would have seen it through without them.

"I'm already seeing the impact the course has had on my role. My go-to instinct now is: what is the data telling us? A specific example of how it's recently helped was analysing our waiting‑list trends to understand where delays were building up. By breaking the data down more effectively, I was able to spot a pattern we hadn’t previously identified, which helped us target specific areas for improvement.”

"I'd definitely recommend the Multiverse Apprenticeships to anyone with an interest in data. But there's so many courses on offer - there really is something for everyone! It is a time commitment, and it's not easy when you've got a full-time job, but it's worth it. We're looking at setting up a learners' network for the next cohort so people have peer support."

If you're interested in signing up, our intranet page has more information on the courses available, how to book, and stories from other learners. Deadline for signing up is Monday, 4th May.
