The Oliver McGowan Essential Safety Training for Learning Disability and Autism is a must-do eLearning module for all colleagues. Consultant Gastroenterologist and Clinical Director for Integrated Medical Services, Sunil Sonwalkar, recently completed his training and has shared with us how he feels it has impacted his work.

"As a clinician, I now have a much more informed perspective about learning disabilities and autism. As a Clinical Director, I promote to everyone the benefits of attending the course. I believe the course has made me a better clinician by increasing my awareness, understanding and acknowledgement of changes that I need to make to adapt to the needs of individuals.

"Specifically, since completing the training, I now provide more time during consultations and ensure that I listen to the patients' carers and families - who understand them so much better.

"The training was delivered in a brilliant way by Toseef and Jess. They have learning disabilities and autism respectively, so it made the training all the more impactful.
