Staff Nurse, Tracy Farrington, will soon be retiring after 25 years in the NHS.
Tracy had dreamed of being a nurse since the age of five, but the opportunity didn't arise until later in life when she became a mature student training at HRI. She enjoyed working in different placements, but particularly in theatres.
Just before Covid, she moved to the Emergency Surgery Unit and became the Lead Nurse in breast surgery.
Tracy described seeing the human anatomy close up as a privilege and a buzz, adding: "It's rewarding to know I made a difference when it was most needed."
In her retirement Tracy plans on spending time with her husband and family, going to the gym, walking, relaxing, travelling the world and staying in touch with her colleagues.
Some of her surgical colleagues have written her a lovely message:
"T is for Tracy. an extraordinary nurse.
"R is for retirement. We are all going to miss her.
"A is for accident-prone, as many a tale has been told.
"C is for her choral, charismatic voice which rings out in theatre.
"Y is for her 25 years of excellent and dedicated service to the NHS."
