Clinical Nurse Specialists' (CNS) Day is being celebrated today, Monday, 16th March.
It’s a time to recognise the incredible contribution of our Clinical Nurse Specialists across CHFT. Our CNS teams play a vital role in providing expert care, guidance and reassurance to patients and families at some of the most difficult moments in their lives. They combine advanced clinical knowledge with compassion, leadership, and advocacy, ensuring patients receive personalised, timely and holistic care.
Across CHFT, our CNS colleagues support pathways in cancer services, long‑term conditions, acute care, surgical specialties and more. Their impact is felt every single day, whether through complex clinical decision‑making, providing emotional support, coordinating care, or championing improvements across services.
Lead Cancer Nurse, Caroline Summers, said: “I just wanted to take a moment to say a big thank you to all of you on National CNS Day. You support people through some of the hardest moments of their lives, bringing empathy, compassion, understanding, and real clinical expertise to everyone affected by a cancer diagnosis. The work you do each day makes a genuine difference to our patients and their families, and it’s truly appreciated.”
Please take a moment to recognise, thank and celebrate our CNS teams for the outstanding work they do and the difference they make to patient experience and outcomes.
