If you support vulnerable people in their home, you can take part in free Safe and Well (Fire Prevention) Partnership Referral Training, offered by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

This 90-minute course on MS Teams will cover:

  • The purpose of a Safe and Well visit and what this involves
  • An awareness of regulations depending on property type and tenure and how we will work with those responsible persons who are accountable for properties
  • How to request a visit on behalf of someone else (with their consent) to determine if they are eligible for a visit from WYFRS
  • An understanding about how person, behaviour and home factors can increase fire risk in the home
  • An understanding about the main lifestyle risk factors that would mean a service user requires a Safe and Well visit
  • The importance of partnership working and your role in helping to recognise and reduce potential fire risk
  • How to access extra support if required

Sessions are very interactive - learners will be asked to join in with answering questions throughout the training and a fun quiz at the end.

Further information about partnership working and information to support the referral process can be found on the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service website.
