The new Mayor of Huddersfield, Councillor Cahal Burke, has selected Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Charity and the Royal Air Force Association (Huddersfield branch) to be the Mayor's Charities of the Year 2023/24.
The announcement was made at a civic event last week, attended by our Chair, Helen Hirst and our Charity Manager, Emma Kovaleski.
Councillor Burke, who will be formally sworn in at his Mayor Making Ceremony tomorrow, said: "Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust Charity and Huddersfield Royal Air Force Associations are very close to me, and it is great that I will be able to support them during my term in office.
"Both are rich in values of providing unwavering help for our communities and to people who are in difficulty that need a guiding hand or help to support them. I am looking forward to raising the profile of both these charities and attending their events over the next 12 months."
Helen said: "We are honoured to have a ‘Lindley local’, who is so passionate about our hospitals, representing Kirklees this civic year.
"We are absolutely delighted that our hospital charity has been chosen as one of his official charities for this year. I know that together with his support, we will continue to do amazing things for the people in our communities that need it most."
