Congratulations go to Advanced Practitioner Sonographer, Helen Wadsworth, who has completed her first marathon in aid of research into Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Helen completed the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon last weekend in 5 hours and 27 minutes, along with her friends, Lizzie Charnock, whose husband died from the disease, and Rachel Green.

Helen, who could barely walk down stairs after it, said: “MND is brutal and life-destroying. Not only for the person but for all their families, too. Every penny counts. Not just to find a cure, but to slow it down and give as much life and as much quality of life. It is horrible.”

The heat last weekend and the climb up the Otley Chevin at the 17-mile point proved challenging, but determination carried the group onwards over the 26 miles and they’ve so far raised around £900.

Helen added: “Once the race was advertised as the Rob Burrow event, we said let’s just do it – and we did!”

Rob Burrow is the former Leeds Rhino Rugby League star who has MND, and was movingly pushed round the course by his best friend, Kevin Sinfield.

All Helen’s colleagues in CRH Ultrasound send a hearty congratulations.
