Taking on an incredible two marathons, for two charities in the space of two weeks, is our General Manager for Reconfiguration, Sophie Box. Having only taken up running a few months ago, Sophie is running the Brighton Marathon on Saturday, 11th April, followed by the London Marathon on Sunday, 26th April.

Aiming to raise £2,500, Sophie will be raising money for CHFT Charity and Alzheimer's Society.

Sophie was next on the list for our CHFT Charity who offered the London Marathon place following a previous runner deferring their place due to injury.

Sophie said: "I am running the Brighton Marathon on what would have been my Nanna’s 90th birthday, in memory of her and to support the Alzheimer’s Society. Two weeks later, I’ll run the London Marathon in memory of my Aunty Karen, who sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer last year. It’s a way to celebrate Karen’s life and the amazing work she did at CHFT. It’s also a chance to give back to the charity that supports so many people in our community. Karen was an incredible nurse at CHFT, and funds raised will help buy cooling caps for the oncology department - bringing comfort to patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Sophie added: “I was absolutely thrilled to get a London Marathon place! It's not every day you get the chance to run one of the world’s most iconic marathons and doing it for CHFT Charity makes it even more special.

"I started making people aware of the marathons just last week and have already raised over £700, which is a quarter of the way there! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far."
