We've got a double retirement announcement to make! Husband and wife duo - Helen and David Shiell - are retiring after a combined 48 years at CHFT.
Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Helen, began her nursing career in 1980 as a Staff Nurse. Since then, she has taken on various roles, including working as a sister and A&E manager.
Her husband - and one of our Transport Solutions Drivers - David, said: "Her parents said that she wanted to work as a nurse from a very early age. Maybe it was for the uniform, but I think it was a desire to serve the community.
"Helen believes, and always has, that acting as a patient advocate was one of the main pillars of the nursing profession. She believes this has led to better patient outcomes and has the benefit of protecting the Trust and also gives her professional satisfaction."
David has worked for the Trust since 2019 currently working part time on Bank but previously worked within Shipping and Transport.
In their retirement the couple plan to move to North Yorkshire to be closer to the countryside and want to tour the UK in a camper van. They're also hoping to go only plenty of city break holidays and maybe even the occasional cruise.
We wish them both all the best in their retirement.
