It's a double celebration for our Lead Midwife for Public Health, Kate Heighway. She's retiring after 16 years at CHFT and has also won the Silver Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Midwifery Officer Awards. This is a prestigious national award which recognises nurses, midwives, healthcare support workers, and maternity support workers for exceptional contributions and embodying NHS values.

Kate was presented with the award by Chief Midwife for the North East and Yorkshire, Dr Tracey Cooper. During the award presentation, Tracey said: "During her time as a midwife Kate has been instrumental in developing and delivering information letters during the pandemic, as well as providing crucial information via social media. She developed a virtual educational programme which was important in keeping communities together. It was her determination which helped support families together through Covid-19, whilst still maintaining infection and prevention protocols.

"Kate is a wonderful midwife who is respected by women, families and colleagues alike."

Chief Nurse, Lindsay Rudge, was also in attendance for the presentation and added: "Whenever there is a broader public health agenda, you always approach it with a can do attitude and innovative ways of thinking to get colleagues on board. You epitomise our One Culture of Care value."

A huge well done Kate, enjoy your retirement and congratulations on a much deserved award.
