Last week marked an important milestone for our chronic Pain Management Clinic as they re-launched their community-based Chronic Pain Service at Todmorden Health Centre.
Consultant in Anaesthesia and Chronic Pain, Rajesh Menon, said: “Guided by our core value of putting patients first, we have listened closely to patient concerns, and working collaboratively with our primary care colleagues, are committed to delivering high-quality, accessible pain management closer to where people live.
“Our vision is to build a sustainable community pain service that operates in true partnership with primary care teams. The feedback from patients who attended last week was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the convenience of local access and the reduced need to travel long distances. Bringing care closer to home also supports better clinic attendance and continuity of treatment.
“We look forward to expanding this model into other primary care settings and continuing to strengthen our community-focused approach to chronic pain management "
Primary Care Network Manager, Tony Martin, added: “The Upper Calder Valley Integrated Neighbourhood Partnership Steering Group (INPSG) is very pleased to work with colleagues in CHFT to deliver the community-based Chronic Pain Service at Todmorden Health Centre. This puts the patient firmly at the forefront of the service, bringing care closer to their homes in a very meaningful way.
“We hope that this paves the way for other secondary care services being established in the neighbourhood and again, putting patients at the heart of what we do.”
